I found a JP4 for reasonable money but he said the battery has leaked a little and the battery is still in it from what I understand.
He said it doesnt affect any of the cicruit boards so doesn't cause any problems or damage to the circuit boards like on the polysix because of the battery location.

Is this the case? Can I just get the battery changed and do a bit of a clean and it'll be great?

The battery is under the keyboard far from the mainboard.
You can even remove the battery as Io does not use the factory memory.
