|
|
I found this picture in a book titled "Making Music - The Guide to Writing, Performing & Recording" by George Martin.
It shows a Jupiter-8 but with different aluminum side panels, the JUPITER-8 lettering on the left side of the synthesizer instead of the top right, and the JP-8 in bigger font below the arpeggiator rate slider instead of below the Roland lettering above the volume and balance pots.
It also looks like it is missing the auto-tune button next to the tuning pot, but it's hard to tell because it's a black and white picture. My guess is that it's not there, because that button is red, and the red "write" button is present in this picture.
Was this a prototype or did this actually make it into someone's hands??[/img]

I can see that the upper grille looks wider in the place that normally should be the inscription "JUPITER-8". Also, the side panel looks like the photo was badly cut instead of just being different from regular Jupiters.
Anyway, that looks like a prototype to me.

Cool Pic...missed out on that one and could only afford the old retro 1980's design.
Still...if it's like me wardrobe it should be back in fashion any day now.

Hi Gil,
The botched pic cropping was my doing, but the aluminum panels are definitely not at 2 angles like they are on the JP-8s that we're used to seeing. My vote is a prototype, also!

Um, could you post it here without cropping before I die of curiosity?
 :D
