Just bought my Jupiter 8

Postby polartech » Thu Oct 22, 2009 7:21 am

I bought this mint example this week in London.
It`s a 14 bit JP8, serial number is: 212331.
Kenton MIDI kit retrofitted.
It really is *spotless*, having spent most of it`s life in the hands of a serious collector. Like I just came out of a store with it brand new in 1984 ;-)
Price paid was £4,500 GBP.
Have just downloaded the factory presets from here and loaded them in to the Jupiter with no problem. This thing sounds just AWESOME!! ;-) Silky smooth and sweet as a nut.
Will post better images soon (hopefully outside in sunlight, if we get any sun that is!)
Thanks to all who helped!
She will be residing alongside my immaculate Juno-60 and Juno-106 ;-)

Oh man, it just looks stunning - you can see why some people call it the most beautiful synth ever made!!
My poor ol' jupe bears the scars of heavy gigging around Australia in the '80s - not a pretty sight (but still an amazing sound!).

Welcome to the forums btw!

What is the red switch round the back near the power switch?

Yeah that does look like a particularly nicely kept machine. Congrats Geoff, and welcome to the Jupiter clan :) Was that the one advertised on SOS website. If so I see the same chap is selling one of the rarer early version ARP 2600's.

adam8it, the red knob is part of the kenton retrofit.

Cheers

Hi guys.. and thanks!!

Yes, she`s certainly a beautiful instrument that`s for sure.

It was indeed the one being advertised in the SOS reader`s ads. To be honest, I was surprised that it hadn`t already been sold by the time I got to see it. I first noticed the ad online whilst working overseas a couple of weeks back. I made arrangements to go see the JP8 as soon as I arrived back!

He was a really nice guy, top bloke, and has an awful lot of classic kit, some of which he is currently selling out of pure necessity.

I may buy his Prophet 5 at some point soon too.

Anyway, thanks again.. great place this ;-)

Geoff
