Re: Some keys won't play unless...

It's more likely a sign of dead voices. When playing an analog synth like the Jupiter 6 in polyphonic mode, voices are assigned in a circular fashion, meaning that the first key pressed will play the voice #1, the second the voice #2 and so on. When the 7th key will be pressed, the voice allocation ...

Re: Stuck at initial auto-tune, never completes ..

Interesting one of them "removes the annoying envelope clicks" - sounds a great idea but with the kind of music I regularly use the clicks to create rhythm and I reckon I might miss those .. ?! If you are referring to the click themselves, then it's better for you to don't do this modific...

Re: Stuck at initial auto-tune, never completes ..

Hi sOnIc, probably your Jupiter 6 needs a complete recalibration, the auto-tune feature relies on the correct working of the D/A converter on the CPU board, and after all these years it may be in need of a re-tuning. This is the service manual, at page 25 starts the calibration procedure, and as you...

Recently I had the opportunity to compare my modified Jupiter 6 with an original, unmodified one. So I decided to record some clips to show the results of the mods, which summarized they are: 1) The resonance modification described by Florian Anwander at his page (mod. number 3). But instead of a 1 ...

Update: yesterday I replaced the xmod CEM3360 on the 2 voices board and guess what: the xmod resurrected! :D So one problem - the biggest one - is resolved. Thanks Doug to having confirmed my thoughts about it. Now remains the other. This evening or saturday I'll check with the oscilloscope what hap...

Yes I thouhgt the same thing yesterday evening, when I was trying to study the circuit diagram (I'm not an electronic technician). I'll try to replace it with one of the CEM3360 I ordered to you a bit of time ago (I'm Michel, the one which ordered to you the CEM3340, CEM3360, IR3109 and BA662A). How...

Yes I did the modifications, I discussed about them in this thread. The problem it's not due to the mod as it affects all the voices and not the single VCOs, but the problem it's just on a single one, additionally the mod have to be done on both the voice cards (the Jupiter 6 have 2 voice cards, one...

I think that BAs' work or don't work. Have you VCO CEMs in sockets to exchange them ? No, they're soldered, but I checked with the oscilloscope the waveform output of each VCO CEM chip, and are all at the same amplitude, so the problem it's not related to the VCO. It's something after it and before...

Jupiter 6 - 2 little technical problems

Hello folks. Recently I discovered that my Jupiter 6 have 2 little problems: 1) The 8th VCO on the 4-voices board sounds at a sligthly lower volume than the others. I checked with an oscilloscope and the output from the CEM3340 it's perfect, so I think it's something between the VCO and the VCF. May...

First thing to do it's a complete recalibration. To do it you'll need an oscilloscope.

Here there's the service manual, the step by step calibration procedure it's described starting from page 25.

Here's the brass sound test. In this recording there are 6 samples of the same patch at different levels of resonance. The first 3 are within the first half of the slider, the 4th at the middle, the 5th at 3/4 and the 6th at full resonance. This track was entirely recorded keeping the synth at the ...

How farther is the resonance wave from the 0v line on the scope, in volts? I don't remember, I should redo the measurings but I have to wait for my friend (which is an electronic engineer) to have some spare time to le me using his oscilloscope. Anyway I did this job in a very empirical way, just b...

a little update on this: instead of a 1 M resistor I used 2x 820 K in parallel, so it's like having a 410 K resistor. Well, the results are a lot better! Now there's no more thin out at all, just be careful with extremely high resonance settings because when the filter resonates, especially on low f...
