first thing is to test the slider. open it up, desolder and remove the slider. then use a voltmeter to see if theres a gradual increase/decrease in resistance. i'd recommend using clips rather than just probes. if the resistance value is all or none like you say the behavior is, replace it. if its a...

Doh!

Classic RTFM moment here. Turns out patches n presets are diferent. Duh. I guess I was saving, loading and comparing presets w/o any saved patches, when I thought I was just hitting 'save' and expecting it would work. Glad I got THAT sorted! Glad this miracle save is turning out to be in better shap...
